Michal Varchola focuses his research efforts to the True Random Number Generators (TRNGs) for Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). TRNG is essential building block of almost each cryptographic system in order to provide random values for underlying algorithms. Random Numbers are required e. g. as session keys and therefore they should meet strict requirements - they should be unpredicable, uniforlmy distributed on their range and independent. His main research challenge is to discover new structures suitable for FPGA that are capable to generate random numbers and also to treat existing principles, examine thier cryptographic security and to uncover thier implementation backdoors.
